When I'm Up To In WIT

Where I'm up to on WIT Dear Mrs Parks and Mrs Mills We are making a scratch quiz for our WIT and the target age is Year 3 and 4. Our WIT is to study invertebrates and make a resource to help year 3 and 4 identify invertebrates from the Frankley school bush. We would like to talk to 2 people in your class to ask these questions and see what they think and to give us some ideas about a helpful resource. What would be a suitable time and day to talk to 2 of the Te Pihinga students. Questions Do You use technology like computers or laptops much in your class? Would a website or something similar be useful to your class? If not what would you recommend us to use? If so Why do you think we should change? Do you know much about invertebrates ( bugs without a backbone)? Does your class struggle identify bugs or invertebrates ( bugs without a backbone)? Has your class looked into invertebrates yet? My Limerick

Hi this is a limerick story that does not make any sense. I did not make this by myself I did it with someone called Lucia in my class. This is the limerick that we wrote

(8) Once there was a fat stinky goat.

(8) Who wanted to float on a boat.

(5) And saw a big bee.

(5) That was stuck in a tree.

(8) And no one would vote for the goat.

My Information Report

This is my information report about centipedes. I chose to wrote about this invertebrate because we caught three of them as part of our WIT.

What's that Long Insect?

Did you know all centipedes are predators?  Centipedes belong to the class of Chilopoda. The name centipede which means “100 legs” can be somewhat* misleading: centipedes may have anywhere from 15 to 177 pairs of legs.Did you know that my centipede is from Frankley School bush.

Diet

Centipedes can eat a full mouse.  Centipedes are carnivores** and they use venom*** to kill their prey.  The venom comes from glands that open near the first pain of modified**** legs.  Centipedes eat earthworms, spiders, slugs and other animals.

Appearance

Centipedes have long bodies and sometimes short. Centipedes have hard bodies and some have soft bodies.Centipedes occur in several***** colors and patterns but most common are brown and reddish orange. They range in size from 4 to 152 mm, depending on the species******.

The heads of centipedes have a pair of long and sensitive antennae.  

Protection

When centipedes are scared they curl up in a little ball.  All centipedes can hide under soil.  It keeps the centipede protected as it moves from place to place. Centipedes protect their eggs by curling up in a circle.  

Centipedes are fascinating creatures that are commonly found in the bush.  They are so tiny to humans but if you are a small invertebrate, watch out because they are poisonous!

My W.I.T In my class Tūhono we have a W.I.T. The W.I.T is called stop bugging me. My W.I.T group you have three or four people in you group. In my W.I.T I have three people called Me,Abbie and Jorjia. My name is a Taryn. We where trying to catch bugs so we caught three centerpeed. I don't know how to spell centerpeed. About our bugs jorjia killed our first centerpeed our second one died from sticking to the tape. Our third one is still alive and it's called taj it's mixed with my wit group first letter in there name.
